Birmingham 2015 Ideal Home Walk Through: Part 1 - Frusterio Design

Frusterio Design is so honored to have been asked to design the 2015 Ideal Home in the Birmingham Parade of Homes. The home is located in The Preserve in Hoover, Alabama. The Preserve is a very unique community. The homes in this community all tend to have a bit of a coastal feel. Some have influences from the craftsman style, others have a bit of country french. The community has the sense of going back in time. White picket fences, community green spaces and neighbors who know each other’s names all bring a sense of peace and family orientation.

The exterior of this home features a light blue with white trim, staying true to the coastal feel. There are multiple windows that flood the home with natural light. In the rear of the house is a spacious 3 car garage.

When first stepping into the home, you are greeted by an large, open foyer. From this viewpoint the flow of the home is evident. You can see the back door perfectly clearly, as well as the kitchen and living area, yet each area is distinct from one another. The flow of a home is absolutely essential in giving the home a comfortably, livable feeling.

To the right you are greeted by a formal dining room. This space is lovely and inviting. In the corner is a built in china cabinet. This is a modern design that has replaced the necessity for a large hutch, which would have taken away usable space. The design is made to be aesthetically pleasing when not in use. Most families will reserve a formal dining room for special occasions, therefore it is important that it brings charm and beauty to the space when not in use. The tall windows and side door bring in a lot of natural light, adding to the warmth of this area.

Next you step into the open concept kitchen and living area. Here you will find a lovely bar and table that will be used for family meals on a day to day basis. The light colors of this kitchen are the perfect mix of coastal and country. The counters are made of silestone quartz. This unique material is durable, long-lasting and antimicrobial. It resists harmful bacteria that other surfaces may absorb. The walk in pantry is a modern convenience that contains built in shelves and a lot of space.

The living room is a cozy area with a lovely view of the outdoor space and the kitchen. The tall ceilings and open concept make this large family room feel even bigger. The entire home features speakers that use a wifi connection to play music, even in the outdoor areas. This system does much more than play music. It has the ability to connect to all devices in the home, including your mobile phone. It is connected to cameras, and able to control the thermostat. Therefore, if the owner were away from home, they have the ability to adjust the temperature of the house and view the cameras. The perfect mix of technology and safety.
